Building Capacity Award: Best practice in supporting decision-making for people with an acquired brain injury

Completed   2017

Introduction

This fellowship aimed to gather evidence from practice and from the literature regarding supported decision making for adults with an acquired brain injury (ABI) who lack capacity. As identified by a House of Lords report into the Mental Capacity Act issues of mental capacity and ABI are poorly understood and responded to. This fellowship also aimed to ensure that the NICE guidelines take account of and are informed by evidence from practice and from international research.
