Building Capacity Award: Evaluating the effectiveness of Active Support: establishing the platform

Completed   2017

Introduction

Developed in the ’80s, Active Support is a person-centred model that aims to improve the quality of life of adults with learning disabilities by maximising their meaningful engagement in activities of the daily life.

The three main aims of this project were to:

  • complete a discrete project focused on a systematic review and meta-analysis addressing the question: ‘What is the effectiveness of Active Support model for adults with learning disabilities?’;
  • carry out other development work towards the preparation of a RCT grant proposal;
  • develop individual skills.
