NIHR SSCR Annual Conference 2023 – E-poster submissions

The NIHR School for Social Care Research’s Annual Conference is taking place on Tuesday 18 and Wednesday 19 April 2023 in-person at the LSE, London.

The Conference will offer the opportunity to display digital posters.

We welcome submissions from the School’s Capacity-building Award holders. There is no mandatory requirement to submit a poster – this is optional for those who would like to display a poster.

Posters should be submitted using the form below by 16.00 on Thursday 13 April 2023.

Should there be any queries about the posters, these will be sent to the lead author of the poster by lunchtime on Friday 14 April 2023. The final poster should be resubmitted by 15.00 on Monday 17 April 2023. Posters submitted earlier will receive any queries earlier than 14 April.

When submitting the form you will be asked if you are happy to be available for a brief slot during the conference to talk to delegates about your poster. This is also optional.

It is expected that your poster will have received feedback from your Award mentor, supporter and/or supervisor prior to submission to the School.

Submission form

Please use the following form to submit your poster:

NIHR SSCR Annual Conference E-Poster Submission

By submitting your poster you are agreeing to the following:

  • The poster will be digitally displayed at the School’s annual conference across both days
  • The poster will be made available on the School’s website after the conference
  • The information provided on your poster covers activities that have (if relevant) appropriate ethical clearance.

Instructions

You should submit your poster as a PowerPoint slide.

Your poster should include relevant logos and disclaimers:

  • You can download the NIHR SSCR logo here
  • The NIHR SSCR disclaimer is: This presentation summaries independent work funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research School for Social Care Research. The views expressed in this presentation are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of the NIHR SSCR, the NIHR or the Department of Health and Social Care.

Please consider the following when finalising your poster:

  • The poster will be displayed on LCD screens: important information should be easily readable from 10 feet away
  • Consider the visual impact of your poster – e.g. effective use of graphics, colour, fonts – to engage with readers
  • A short compelling title will draw more interest/attention
  • Text-heavy posters are difficult to read and follow. A rough guide is about 300-800 words depending on use of graphics and images
  • The text should be Plain English, clear and to the point
  • Use of bullets, numbering, and headlines make posters easier to read
  • If there is a ‘take-away message’ from your poster this should be clearly set out
  • The layout of posters should be clean and easy to follow the information you are setting out
  • Includes acknowledgments, your name and institutional affiliation.

There is no fixed template you need to use as this may be dictated by your host institutions. If you would find a template helpful you can have a look at the NIHR’s templates or contact sscr@lse.ac.uk.
