NIHR Three Schools’ Dementia Research Programme Funding

The NIHR Schools for Primary Care Research (SPCR), Public Health Research (SPHR) and Social Care Research (SSCR) (“three Schools”) have joined together in a unique collaboration between leading academic centres in England to collaborate on two programmes of work funded through the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR): one on mental health led by SPCR and the second on dementia led by SSCR.

We are seeking innovative, original, high-quality proposals which represent good value for money.

Frequently asked questions

  • How many Schools and universities are required to be involved in a proposal?

Each project must span at least two Schools, which can be within just one university.

  • Does the programme fund 100% of all salary costs (both directly allocated and directly incurred)?

Funding can be requested for all salary costs, and this will be funded at 100%.

  • Are any non-staff costs ineligible?

Non-staff costs are eligible where they are justified and specific to the project.

  • Is the 25% of salary costs that can be requested in overheads, is this 25% of all salary costs or just for a particular group of salary costs?

This is 25% of all salary costs.
